Cybervixen Designs is located in Little Rock, AR and owned by, myself, Amanda Galiano. I oversee all the design work and technical aspects although sometimes specific aspects of complex projects are contracted out to other individuals for more expert attention.

The name "Cybervixen" is taken from an old bulletin board nickname back in the days when the "Internet" was young. It fits my concept of Internet presence perfectly. I believe in cunning, intelligent sites that are impressive but understated. In some cases loud, in-your-face sites are appropriate but they often relay a poor user experience.

Web design should follow the same guidelines as print design. Your website is basically an advertisement for you or your services. In print ads, one should simply and elegantly state the main theme. So many times websites get bogged down in eye candy and the main point of them escapes the visitors. If you are commissioning a business web page, this is not the type of site you want.

To put it simply, my philosophy is fourfold:

  • Simple design that is compatible across all platforms.
  • Elegant pages that follow the basic rules of HTML design and print design.
  • Useable pages that will promote your group, idea, goals or business.
  • Fun and interactive pages that give your users a reason to come back.
Be careful that the web designer you hire doesn't rely on a "What You See is What you Get" HTML editor like Microsoft Frontpage or Netscape Composer. These editors are great for beginners to learn HTML on and come in handy when someone wants to build a personal page but they have severe limitations and often lead to bulky pages that don't work across all platforms. You want everyone to be able to access your page.

I have been designing web pages since 1996. In 1996, you had to learn HTML if you wanted to a build a web page. That philosophy of knowing what the code means before stringing it across a page has stuck with me and I still design the majority of my web pages from scratch, typing in all the code, inspecting it and testing it across many platforms before it is published. This leads to solid web pages that work!

Good luck on your quest to find a designer and happy web browsing.
